Melinda Lavon PhD IBCLC CPM |
Melinda started taking care of other people at a very young age by helping with her little sisters and her grandparents as they aged. While working as a CNA and an LPN in the hospital, long term care, and hospice, she became a research scientist working on many projects, and found that solid research also supports homebirth! After having an HBA3C with her own midwife, Melinda began studying to be a midwife herself so that more families in Kansas can access the care they need and deserve!
Melinda currently lives in Lawrence, Kansas with her 3 younger children and her dog, Luca. Melinda still loves teaching courses online for Highland Community College, knitting, serving Kansas families on the Public Health Committee within the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition, the Kansas Maternal Mortality Review Panel, and is the Advocate on the board of directors for KMA. At Bloom Midwifery, we especially encourage families of color, families of faith, and those in the LGBTQ community to come in for an interview and see what respectful, supportive care can be! Well person care including labs, PAP, nutrition, preconception counseling, lactation support and more can occur in the office or in your home!
