Deidre believes she is a midwife simply because it is what God has “called” her to do. Her natural birth philosophy was initially formed after the tragic birth of her nephew that resulted in the loss of her only sister in 1991. As an experienced midwife of nearly 20 years she admits she has seen a lot and still never stops learning. The Midwifery Model of Care, as defined by MANA, is the philosophy she has adhered to in her attendance of nearly 1000 births, which affirms that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. Personally, it's the miraculous way God creates new life and grows families. In her work, she is firmly convinced that relationships built on trust with informed consent and refusal are of great importance. As a member of the Wichita Birth Assistance group they take pride in their professional environment and desire to provide high quality, compassionate care to low risk moms.
