Melinda started taking care of other people at a very young age by helping with her little sisters and her grandparents as they aged. While working as a CNA and an LPN in the hospital, long term care, and hospice, she became a research scientist working on many projects, and found that solid scientific research also supports homebirth!
Melinda currently lives in Lawrence, Kansas with her 3 younger children, her dog Luca, and a cat named Mouse. Melinda loves teaching, knitting, babies, and serving Kansas families through the Public Health Committee within the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition, the Kansas Maternal Mortality Review Panel, Sound Beginnings hearing coalition, and has served on the KMA board of directors. At Bloom Midwifery, we especially encourage families of color, families of faith, and those in the LGBTQ community to come in for an interview and see what respectful, supportive care can be! Well person care including labs, PAP, nutrition, genetic testing, preconception counseling, lactation support and more can occur in the office or in your home!
