Veronica Mullet, CPM, CNM
My journey to midwifery started very early in my life and I can barely remember a time when I didn't know I wanted to be a midwife when I grew up. I was always fascinated with birth and pregnancy and four of my siblings were born at home with a midwife. I went to nursing school and worked in labor and delivery which further cemented my desire to be a midwife and be able to offer my clients the autonomy that is often lacking in pregnancy care in the hospital setting.
I attended Vanderbilt University and graduated in 2018. While there, I had the opportunity to catch babies in an amazing birth center that also offered home birth and hospital birth if transfer was necessary. I moved to Kansas City for the opportunity to work in a birth center setting as I felt having the opportunity to catch more babies would help me develop my midwifery skills. After over 400 births and 7 years of catching babies, I'm thrilled to live my dream and start catching babies at home again. I offer homebirth services in the greater Kansas City area (about a 45-60 minute radius from Lees Summit). I firmly believe that birth is a natural process that proceeds best when left to the wisdom of the body. I have learned that there is far more about our bodies and babies than the physical components of labor and birth and that some of it is intended to be a beautiful mystery. Watching that story unfold is the best part of my job and I love holding space for families as the transformation of bringing new life into the world occurs. In my free time, I love to garden, cook, sew, and spend time with my partner and daughter, and play with my puppy Miya.
